"The
Body is an amazing entity that will create balance by any
means necessary. And it’s constantly talking. But our bodies
don’t naturally speak with words; they first speak to us
using sensations and feelings: hot, cold, hungry, joyful,
mad, tense, energetic…
Therapeutic touch draws our attention immediately to
sensation and feeling; it gives us the opportunity to listen
to what the body wants and needs. Just as language creates
order and opens doors for new ideas and possibilities, so
too can touch. “- Jenni Plym
Jenni is a licensed and nationally
certified massage therapist. She received her training at
the Muscular Therapy Institute (Watertown, Massachusetts)
and has received further training from MTI’s continuing
education department, the Upledger Institute, the Zero
Balancing Health Association, Partners in Chi, the Kripalu
Center for Yoga and Health, and the International Institute
of Infant Massage. She is a member of the American Massage
Therapy Association, the Kripalu Yoga Teachers Association,
and Cambridge Area Health Practitioners – a group of
practitioners united to match community members with
complementary care that may best suit their needs.
Jenni aims to provide personalized, therapeutic massage and
bodywork, customizing each session to match the needs of the
individual. Her work can be structural (i.e. focusing on
muscular tension), energetic or spiritual, depending on the
wishes of the client, and may incorporate techniques from
muscular therapy, sports massage, myofascial release, reiki,
craniosacral therapy, zero balancing and acupressure. Home
visits are also available for private yoga instruction and
family care. Family care visits are designed to serve the
needs of new parents and to teach them massage that is
beneficial for infants.
A while back, Jenni decided to try massage and chiropractic
care when she was experiencing chronic mid-back tension that
was only temporarily alleviated by stretching and exercises
. Not only did the tension begin resolving, but she
experienced increased energy, and a powerful sense of
well-being. “The fact that natural methods – something as
basic as touch – created such drastic changes in my energy
level, mood and my perception of life blew me away.” Over
the years Jenni has received many types of bodywork, and has
found that each modality addresses the body in a different
way, and yields unique results…hence the reason for her
eclectic training. Prior to becoming a bodyworker, Jenni
received her B.S. in Psychology from San Francisco State
University, and spent five years as a lead preschool
teacher. Jenni’s life work continues to be enriched and
informed by outdoor activities, dance, yoga, pilates,
meditation, cooking, reading and continuing education
courses. |
